Market wrap up - abridged

(thanks to Wicked Child Designs for this photo : )

Just a quick blog - too tired to type much. It's all about the pictures tonight.

Thank you to everyone who came by and said hello at either the brisStyle Indie Twilight Markets at King George Square on Friday night or Red Hill Fair today.

What fun catching up with new and return shoppers, as well as the gorgeous brisStylettes.

Did you manage to pop by? Let me know what you thought - didn't the Square look pretty spesh?

All the fun of the fair!

It's definitely market-a-go-go at the moment.

A few months ago it seemed a sterling idea to do markets back-to-back - - - Friday night vs Saturday morning (the trifecta would have been the Young Designer's Market at Southbank on Sunday - hats off to those girls doing all three, actually, four, if you count the Valley laneway markets this Wednesday night) - - - but now, at the pointy end of the planning stage it all seems very busy and that I've left everything to the last minute.

That's probably not true, as I've plenty of pretty creations to take along - purses, belts and bags - it's just that I always like to do a new line of something for each market. A new take on an old favourite, or a completely new design.

My latest flurry of activity has been around laptop cases and the holdall handbags. Behind the simplicity of the laptop sleeve is reinforcement with canvas and double layers of padding to keep your precious things safe and sound. The holdall handbags are as complex as they look, with pleats, top stitching and layers of interfacing - and that's after I've sorted through my fabric stash to mix-and-match 'til it's just so.

Please do pop along and say hello at one of this week end's markets - and let me know what you think of my new designs. Right! Back to the Bernina.

I went along to the opening night (and launch of the brisStyle website) to help celebrate this exciting event.

When you go in make sure to explore all the nooks and crannies – there’s plenty to see in the main display cases (all beautifully colour-coordinated), but don’t miss out on the wall hangings,

and the cabinets in the reading alcoves.

Made-it Roulette...

Uuurgh, after a long, hard (but enjoyable – I *do* love my job) day at work, it’s time for a ‘buy, buy, sell, sell’ of a different kind… the crafty, handmade goodness kind. Take a peek at what I’ve been perusing tonight on made-it…..ahhhh. I love 'made-it roulette' .. just keep hitting the ‘made-it’ banner to see a random assortment of shop’s goodies. Virtual window shopping....

Busy bee...

I've been teaming with a theme this last bout of sewing. I love the fabric's contrasting small and large flower prints, as well as autumnal colours (...despite being well and truly past this mild season, into the 'deep' of winter).

My latest patterns include:

simple drawstring bags (perfect as book bags or music bags for little girls or to keep 'your smalls' in when you travel.... to prevent, as shared by my friend on her recent trip to London, finding her undies covered in glitter when she borrowed her littlest one's drawstring bag),

pretty, reversible headbands, and

a new wristlet clutch.

Lovely treats

I just wanted to share with you all a gorgeous and thoughtful gift I got from a friend on the weekend. It's full of beautiful, elaborate illustrations and photos of Regency-style craft projects within its glossy pages. My imagination is already racing as to what pretty creations I can whip up from within its lush pages... a covered notebook? A bonnet? Maybe a case for embroidery thread?

Unfortunately, no Mr Darcy centrefold!
