Blue and green should never be seen.

Ok, so I've just worked out how to put links in blogs. I *am* learning one new thing every day.

Here's an old treasury I did on etsy last week. Full of soothing to the eye pretty-ness.

If you go down to the woods today...

I went to the Botanic Gardens today to find a patch of sun - I wanted to share a few things I saw on my wanderings. Thanks camera phone.

You know, I know that figs come from fig trees and I know what a fig tree looks like, but it's never occurred to me to think where the figs grow on said trees ... so, do you think I could believe my eyes when I saw this today? Fantastic!

Nom nom nom.

The Botanic Gardens has a 'kids' art trail, with nifty sculptures hidden among the plants, paths and waterways. Here are a few I liked .... Mr Lobster...

.....the Xylophone chair ..... (you can really play it!)

and the violin playing bats....

My friend went to Japan and all I got was this lousy t-shirt...

Actually, that's not true. I got these fantabulously gorgeous fabrics instead!

Alls I said was, 'buy me $50 worth of fabrics'. Oh, and I said, 'please'. It was exciting when I met her for lunch to pick up 'the goods'. There was that anticipation of a Christmas and birthday morning all rolled in to one. (Yes, I do still get veeery excited)...

I think it's easy to fall into a pattern of buying fabrics with patterns that light your fire. This friend has a great eye and I knew she'd find something special, but with a twist on my usual purchases. And I was right. Props to Akiko.

So I think this week end might involve some new laptop cases, a holdall handbag and some pretty little purses.

Until next we meet,

Market treats

Well, hello again - I thought I'd share some of my market spoils with you.

One of the girls from work went to Honkers recently for a fabric shopping expedition. She generously gave me not one, not two, not three, but four different ribbons she picked up while she was away - and quite lovely lengths too. See?

So, this pretty badge I bought is part of a little thank you present to her (c/o - Edward & Lilly).

It was also my friend's little boy's first birthday (a little while ago now....oops) and a present was required. So I thought "What's a good place to buy a quality, cute, handmade toy?". What's that you say, "the BrisStyle Indie Designer's Markets"? You're on the money there. Check out this little man. Cute, huh? I bought him from Made by Maisie.

I'm going to post him down this week, along with the pilchers I made as one of my latest sewing experiments.

Bye now, shelleyberelli x

Try one new thing every day...

Good afternoon folks,

I've just arrived home from the July BiDM (yes, that's the BrisStyle Indie Designers Markets) at Racecourse Rd, Hamilton. I've made myself a cuppa and have curled up on the couch for some quiet time.

I shared the BrisStyle co-op stall with some clever and crafty ladees including Vintage Visions, Pannikin, Sandra Darling Visual Art Creations, Edward & Lilly and Moose & Bird. We got to talking about blogs, tweets and the like. I'm no Luddite, but up until this afternoon I didn't have a blog. I know, *gasp*.

They say you should try one new thing a day. Not quite sure why, although it sure does keep life interesting. Maybe it's because it keeps the neuronal connections fresh and firing? So my contribution this 5th day of June is a new blog - my shelleyberelli homebase.

I plan to share new schemes, fabrics, patterns and adventures in craft on this here page - so, thanks for dropping by. Please leave a comment or question and I hope to see you back here again real soon.

Yours, in craft,
shelleyberelli
